In the margins of the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the battle of the Bulge, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, was received at the Ministry of State by Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel.
The shared memory of the Second World War and the sacrifice of US troops to liberate European countries were the subjects on the agenda. Bilateral relations between the United States and Luxembourg and the importance of multilateralism were also discussed.
“Luxembourg will never forget the sacrifices that the American people have made to free our country from foreign oppression. Since then, the United States, Luxembourg and the European Union have established a strong partnership that has shaped the modern world. In regards to our common future, we must remain committed to a multilateral approach where cooperation prevails over confrontation”, noted the Prime Minister at the meeting.
