Invitations for COVID-19 vaccination launched for adolescents aged 12-17 years, with priority given to the most vulnerable

The first invitations for vaccination against the coronavirus will be sent out this week to adolescents aged between 12 and 17, starting with the oldest.

Following the recommendations of the High Council for Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses, CSMI) of 10 June 2021, priority will be given to the most vulnerable. To this end, the CSMI, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Paediatric Society, has drawn up a list of comorbidities that may increase an adolescent's risk of developing a serious infection. This list can be consulted on the Health Portal via the link (in French): https://sante.public.lu/fr/espace-professionnel/recommandations/conseil-maladies-infectieuses/covid-19/covid-19-annexes/CSMI-vaccination-des-adolescents-COVID19.pdf.

Booking an appointment

Depending on their age, the adolescents concerned will receive an invitation from the Ministry of Health by post, with details of how to make an appointment at a vaccination centre of their choice. Personalised assistance is also offered through a hotline specifically set up for this purpose under the number (+352) 247-65533.

Adolescents with a health condition that may put them at increased risk according to the established list, can be registered for vaccination through their general practitioner or specialist and will then receive an invitation by post.

It is expected that each adolescent in this category will received an invitation within the next 2-3 weeks. Invitations will be sent out as and when vaccines are delivered.
