Institution of His Royal Highness Prince Guillaume as "Lieutenant-Représentant" of his Royal Highness the Grand Duke
Following the public announcement made by His Royal Highness the Grand Duke on June 23rd, the nomination and the entry into office of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince as "Lieutenant-Représentant" of H.R.H. the Grand Duke will be endorsed on October the 8th 2024.
The attribution of this title will enable the Grand Duke, who remains the head of state, to delegate certain responsibilities to his "Lieutenant-Représentant".
The Lieutenancy ceremony on October 8th will begin with the signing of the grand ducal nomination order by H.R.H. the Grand Duke and Prime Minister Luc Frieden at the Grand Ducal Palace. It will be followed by the swearing-in of H.R.H. the Crown Prince before the Chamber of Deputies, as prescribed by the Constitution.
Public access
- Plenary session:
Seats will be available for members of the public in order to follow the ceremony from within the Chamber of Deputies. Please note that visibility from the balcony of the plenary hall of the Chamber of Deputies is limited. The visitors' entrance is located on rue de l'Eau, on the side of the main building of the Hôtel de la Chambre. Admittance requires an identity card.

- On the "Krautmaart" / rue du Marché-aux-Herbes:
Following the ceremony, at approximatively 4 p.m., the public is warmly invited to come and greet H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke, the President of the Chamber of Deputies and the Prime Minister.
