Kickoff of the national campaign on artificial intelligence "AI4LUX"

Under the tagline "AI in service of people," Prime Minister Luc Frieden officially presented the national campaign AI4LUX, dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) and aimed at positioning AI as a driver for citizens, competitiveness, and Luxembourg's sovereignty.

The rollout of the national campaign coincides with a key phase for Luxembourg, one year after the country unveiled its national AI strategy (May 2025). Through concrete and innovative projects, the various ministries and administrations are fully mobilized to implement initiatives that modernize public action, strengthen the country's economic competitiveness, and significantly improve citizens' access to information.

Although still in its early stages, AI is already emerging as a cross‑cutting technology that is transforming sectors such as education, labor markets, health, the economy, public services, culture and media, to name just a few. Conscious of the need for an informed understanding, responsible governance, and collective vigilance in the face of questions raised by any technological breakthrough, the Government seeks to highlight the potential of this rapidly developing technology for social and economic progress.

A new dedicated website offers an overview of the state-led AI projects, as well as their benefits for society. The platform allows citizens to explore the various initiatives.

During a joint press conference with Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, the Prime Minister presented the Government's priorities and flagship projects, which aim to position Luxembourg as a key player in the global AI landscape. The strategic partnership signed in June 2025 between Luxembourg and Mistral AI—one of Europe's most advanced actors in AI—illustrates the country's ambition to be at the forefront of responsible, innovative, and sovereign AI.

This partnership with Mistral AI has reached a decisive milestone with the deployment of artificial intelligence solutions directly on‑site, ensuring security and confidentiality for data stored on Luxembourg territory. As part of the State's modernization, all civil servants will, in the coming weeks, gain access to a sovereign chatbot. This tool will not only allow them to handle sensitive information securely but also to design personalized intelligent agents to facilitate certain daily tasks.

In parallel, the collaboration extends to various projects, including the development of a dedicated legal chatbot on the Legilux platform. This new conversational assistant will make legal information more accessible, helping citizens and businesses navigate Luxembourgish and European regulatory frameworks more seamlessly. Other projects are being prepared in collaboration with the local ecosystem, including the deployment of a chatbot on the most visited government websites to help citizens and companies find the information they need more easily.

AI will transform our society at an increasingly rapid pace. Our collective responsibility is to guide this evolution so that it is inclusive, ethical, and beneficial to all. With this campaign, the national strategy, and its partnership with Mistral, Luxembourg reaffirms its willingness to be an engaged actor—rather than a mere spectator—in this technological revolution, which it aims to address together with all stakeholders in the interest of the country and its citizens.
