Due to technical problems at the Hall Victor Hugo vaccination centre in Limpertsberg, the centre will be transferred to Luxexpo The Box as of Monday, 3 January 2022.

From 23 December, children aged between 5 and 11 years can be vaccinated on a voluntary basis in the 3 vaccination centres Victor Hugo, Esch-Belval and Ettelbruck.

Temporary reopening of a fifth vaccination centre at Luxexpo The Box
In the context of the shortening of the time between the initial vaccination and the booster vaccination and taking into account an acceleration of the deliveries of vaccines, the government has decided to temporarily reopen, as from 10 January 2022, a fifth vaccination centre at Luxexpo The Box (Luxembourg-Kirchberg).

COVID-19 vaccination: interval before booster reduced to 5 months
In view of the current epidemic wave, the threat of the omicron variant and the increasing incidence of hospitalisations among vaccinated persons, and following the recommendations of the Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses (CSMI) issued on 14 December, the Government Council of 15 December decided to reduce the interval between the last injection of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccination and the "booster" dose from 6 to 5 months.

COVID-19 vaccination of vulnerable children from 14 December
As decided by the Government Council on 10 December and following the advice of the High Council for Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses – CSMI) on 29 November, vulnerable children aged between 5 and 11 years and those in regular contact with vulnerable people will be able to get vaccinated on a voluntary basis.

Temporary reopening of a fourth vaccination centre in the hangar of the Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) at Findel
In the context of a large shipment of vaccines announced for next week and in order to offer all those concerned by a COVID-19 booster vaccine ("booster" or "3rd dose") an additional opportunity to get vaccinated, the Government is working on the temporary re-opening of a fourth vaccination centre.

From 1 December 2021, the COVID-19 booster vaccines (or "3rd dose") can only be administered by appointment in the 3 vaccination centres Victor Hugo, Esch-Belval and Ettelbruck.

Today, the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, has decided that the request for the organisation of a referendum on the proposed revision of Chapter VI of the Constitution, submitted by an initiative committee and received on 26 October 2021, is declared admissible as it meets the requirements set by the amended law of 4 February 2005.

Optimisation dose of mRNA vaccine for people who received a single dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen
In order to optimise the protection of those vaccinated with the single-dose vaccine of the COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen, the Government Council, at its meeting on 15 October, decided to follow the recommendation of the Higher Council of Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses) of 14 October for an additional injection of mRNA vaccine.

Free COVID-19 PCR tests for persons, who received a first dose of a COVID-19-vaccine before the new COVID-law takes effect
Following the recommendations of the Council of State regarding the new CovidCheck system that will be effective from 1 November, the government has decided to make available free COVID-19 PCR tests to anyone who received a first dose of a COVID-19-vaccine before 18 October (the date on which the new COVID law takes effect).

Free PCR tests for people who cannot be vaccinated
In order to allow anyone who cannot be vaccinated to benefit from free PCR tests, the Government Council decided to implement a new project for targeted screening using "COVID-19 PCR test vouchers".
