At the invitation of the Prime Minister, Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, will pay a working visit to Luxembourg on 16 September 2021. The livestreaming starts around 12pm.

Following the recommendations of the High Council for Infectious Diseases of 7 September 2021, a third "booster" dose of coronavirus vaccination may be administered to the elderly, people in accommodation facilities and patients on dialysis.

Following the recommendations of the Superior Council of Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses - CSMI), the Government Council, which met today, decided to adapt its vaccination strategy in order to allow heterologous vaccination (sometimes called "mix and match").

As announced after the Government Council of 21 April, a waiting list has been set up in order to benefit from the remaining doses of coronavirus vaccine.

Following the opening of the waiting list for vaccination against COVID-19 with the Vaxzevria® vaccine (AstraZeneca), 16,200 letters of invitation were sent out on 27 April. People invited can now make their appointment at a vaccination centre.

The first invitations to those covered by phase 6 of the vaccination campaign will be sent out at the end of this week (week 17).

As decided by the Government Council on 16 April, people aged between 30 and 54 will have the opportunity to register online on a list and express their interest in being voluntarily vaccinated with Vaxzevria (formerly Astra Zeneca).

People who have been invited to be vaccinated in the 4th phase of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 (age 65-69) and who have not made an appointment during this period, will nevertheless have the opportunity to be vaccinated in a vaccination centre at a later stage.

In its opinion of 16 April, the Superior Council of Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses - CSMI) takes a position on the conditions of administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine, now called Vaxzevria, in the light of the recent opinion of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on the subject and the restrictions on its use according to age.

Following today's statement by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) regarding the COVID-19 vaccine Vaxzevria (formerly AstraZeneca), EU Health Ministers met by videoconference today, Wednesday 7 April, to discuss a common approach to the future roll-out of Vaxzevria vaccine.

The first invitations to those covered by phase 5 of the vaccination campaign will be sent out this week (week 14).
